Therapy and Psychological Services Across the Lifespan

Thoughtful support for children, adults, and individuals navigating the transition to parenthood

Therapy can provide a relationship grounded in warmth, trust, and collaboration. In a respectful, nonjudgmental space, you can better understand your emotional world, strengthen your relationships, and navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and self-compassion.

I provide psychotherapy and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, adults, and families. Whether you are seeking support for your child, coping with stress or emotional difficulties in your own life, adjusting to the transition to parenthood, or navigating the unique complexities of family-building through surrogacy, therapy can offer a space to feel seen, understood, and supported.

I offer both virtual and in-person appointments in New York City or Westchester County.

Services

Child Therapy

Supporting children and families through anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, ADHD, behavioral concerns, school-related difficulties, social struggles, and life transitions.

Children often communicate through play, behavior, and relationships rather than words alone. Play therapy provides a developmentally appropriate way for children to express feelings, process experiences, and build new ways of understanding themselves and others.

Parents and caregivers are an essential part of the therapeutic process. I work collaboratively with families to better understand each child's unique needs and support growth both inside and outside of therapy.

Adult Therapy

Supporting adults through anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, parenting challenges, stress, identity questions, grief, and major life transitions.

Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that shape how we move through the world. Together, we work to make sense of life's challenges, build on your strengths, and foster meaningful, lasting change.

Every therapeutic relationship is unique. I tailor treatment to each individual's goals and experiences, creating a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported.

Perinatal, Postpartum, & Surrogacy Support

Providing specialized psychotherapy for individuals and couples during pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, infertility, and the emotional journey of family-building through surrogacy.

The transition to parenthood can bring excitement, hope, uncertainty, grief, and profound changes in identity and relationships. Whether you are preparing to welcome a child, coping with unexpected challenges, or navigating the unique emotional complexities of surrogacy, therapy offers a place to process these experiences with support and compassion.

My goal is to provide a thoughtful, nonjudgmental space where you can explore the full range of emotions that accompany this journey while strengthening resilience, relationships, and confidence as you move forward.

Neuropsychological Evaluations

Offering comprehensive evaluations to provide diagnostic clarification, identify strengths and challenges, and guide treatment recommendations and educational planning.

Psychological evaluations can help answer important questions about learning, attention, emotional functioning, behavior, and development. In addition to identifying areas of difficulty, evaluations highlight each individual's strengths and provide recommendations that can support growth at home, in school, and in treatment.

The evaluation process is collaborative and individualized, with the goal of a clearer understanding of the individual’s unique profile and the next steps that will best support their needs.

My Approach

I believe that meaningful change happens within the context of a genuine therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a space where children, adolescents, and adults feel safe bringing the parts of themselves that may feel confusing, painful, or difficult to share elsewhere.

As a psychologist, I strive to build relationships grounded in warmth, trust, and collaboration. I believe in joining with each client respectfully and without judgment, helping them better understand their emotional world, strengthen their relationships, and develop new ways of coping with life's challenges.

My work is informed by psychodynamic and developmental perspectives and is grounded in the belief that each person brings a unique history, set of relationships, and life experiences that shape who they are today. Together, we work to better understand those experiences, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, and create opportunities for meaningful and lasting change.

Whether I am working with a child learning to express difficult feelings, an adult navigating a major life transition, or an individual or couple preparing to welcome a child through pregnancy or surrogacy, my goal remains the same: to create a therapeutic relationship in which you feel seen, heard, understood, and empowered to grow.

Meet Dr. Emma Kolpon

I am a clinical psychologist licensed in New York and Connecticut providing psychotherapy and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have pursued specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy, neuropsychological assessment, developmental assessment and treatment, play therapy, DIR/Floortime®, and perinatal and postpartum psychotherapy.

As my practice has grown, I have developed a particular interest in supporting individuals and couples navigating the emotional complexities of family-building through surrogacy, as well as the broader transitions of pregnancy and the postpartum period.

I earned my doctorate from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and completed my predoctoral internship at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. Throughout my training and career, I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of clinical settings, including a therapeutic preschool, a foster care agency, long-term and acute inpatient psychiatric settings, a day treatment school for children with significant social, emotional, and communication challenges, and private practice.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association and serve on the Board of Division 39, Section II: Childhood and Adolescence.

Whether you are seeking therapy for yourself, your child, or your family, I strive to provide thoughtful, individualized care that is responsive to your unique needs and goals. I invite you to learn more about my approach to therapy and how I work with clients.
